Fall…..On A Roll!

Written By Sarah Christiansen

Autumn is one of my favorite times of year. Here is a quick and easy no-sew project that even your children will enjoy making. All you grandma’s out there may enjoy this fall project with those grandkids!

Pumpkin Roll

Items needed:

- A roll of toilet paper (any basic, cheap kind will do)
- 10" square of fall fabric, orange solid or whatever you would like to use
- 4" x 5" rectangle piece of paper grocery bag
- 8" piece of quilt batting
- 2 yds & 2 ft of jute string or twine
- artifical fall leaves or ivy
- glue gun and glue stick
- wire cutters

Directions:

Wrap roll of toilet paper with quilt batting to make a pumpkin shape, leaving one end of the cardboard roll uncovered.

Next, place your piece of fabric wrong side up on a flat surface. Center batting-covered roll on top of fabric with uncovered end of roll facing up.

Bring the corners of the fabric up to center of the roll. Stuff the fabric into the uncovered end of roll, covering batting and maintaining the pumpkin shape as shown in the photo.

Take your rectangular piece of grocery bag and roll paper to make a 4" long stem. Glue as needed to hold. Wrap jute string/twine around stem as shown. Trim excess and glue ends to hold.

Insert one end of stem into the opening on top of the pumpkin. Glue to hold.

Use wire cutters to trim stem from fall leaves or ivy spray. Glue leaves or ivy around the base of the stem.

Happy Autumn!
